12/25/1985 - Death of Millard Fillmore Hopper at age 91.  Born: August 8, 1894, Writer, Publisher and Touring American Exhibition Checker Player during the 1930's & 1940's. He was one of the most ardent supporters of the game.  He competed in two WTM matches with Tom Wiswell for the World Championship at Freestyle Play, losing in 1951, (2 wins - 7 losses - 27draws), and  drawing the his second WTM in 1953, (2 wins - 2 losses -26 draws). Hopper has to be considered as one of the greatest names in American Checker History.
